Barbara Barrett

Barbara is a landscape painter with a sense of place. She can take a scene outdoors - a certain place she knows - and put it on canvas. She is able to translate nature with a paint brush. Her passion is for landscapes - the Taos area is her inspiration.

Barbara has been a resident of Taos for over twenty years and has been actively involved in art, both through painting and through volunteering in art organizations. Her focus has been oil and pastel. Besides taking classes and workshops with Ray Vinella, Don Ward, Chris Morel and Kathleen Smith, she headed up volunteer projects for children's programs at the Millicent Rogers Museum and for the Taos Institute of Art. She spent many years as a docent both at the Millicent Rogers Museum and at the Dallas Museum of Art. Before moving to Taos she served on staff as Coordinator of Docent Programs and Teaching Resources at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Barbara graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree focusing on studio art and art history. Her work has been shown at the Millicent Rogers Museum Miniature Show, University of New Mexico Students' Show, Taos Fall Arts Festival - 'Open' and 'Selects', Turquoise Teapot and at the Taos Art Plaza.
